Better Through Nature

Improving mental wellbeing through nature connection

A six-week course for people with anxiety, depression or burnout.

This program is rooted in research that shows getting connected to nature can improve your mental and physical health. Over the six weeks we offer you skills for getting in touch with nature to help cope with life's ups and downs so that you will be more resourced going forward.

How Do I Enrol?

If you'd like to sign up for the course, please make sure that you are available for all six sessions outlined above.

One week's absence is okay but this cannot be week one.

You will then need to email Tom & Barbara at Better Nature CIC at betternaturecic@gmail.com to register your interest and book a half hour slot to have a chat. This chat can be in person at the Frome Medical Practice, online through Zoom or on the phone.

During the chat we will ask you a few questions to learn a little more about you and to ensure your suitability for this program. We will tell you more about what to expect from the program and answer any questions that you may have. If we find that you are not suitable for this course we will do our best to signpost you to projects or interventions which fit better with your needs.

More Information about Nature Connection

There are particular ways that we can mindfully interact with nature which are different from how we might be when going for a walk, or sitting in the park or garden. These methods are known as ‘the five pathways to nature connection’ and recent studies by Derby University have found that connecting with nature in this way has a positive effect on people suffering with anxiety, depression and burnout. This pilot program is based on these proven pathways.

It is the hope of Better Nature Ecotherapy CIC and Frome Medical Practice that these pilot courses will pave the way towards mindful nature connection being available to people all over the country as a proven and effective way to improve mental wellbeing.
